“My son is currently a junior in high school. During his freshman year, we noticed he was having some discomfort, and some periodic bleeding on his pants/shorts. Needless to say, it took almost a year before we could get him to see a doctor because of his modesty, and not being something he was comfortable talking about. With the doctor’s care, we watched it, treated with some antibiotics, and the poor kid walked around with feminine pads in the back of his pants to attempt to contain the drainage. He went from being a social, happy kid, to a young man who rarely left the house, didn’t want to talk, and kept to himself. In January, 2015, it was decided he needed to have the dead/diseased tissue from the area taken out. He left with a 7-9 inch incision, but within 3 months, it still had not closed or healed completely. It began to spread again, and and the end of May, we were told he would again need to have this same surgery, or get a second opinion. Though we were initially told we would see a particular doctor out of Evergreen Surgical, in Eau Claire, WI, we later learned that Dr. Immerman from Evergreen specialized in dealing with pilonidal disease. We could not have been more blessed to be placed in Dr. Immerman’s expert hands and care. From the first time we met with him, we were impressed with his expertise, caring manner, and how well he could explain what my son was dealing with, and what would need to happen to attempt to heal it. Dr. Immerman has had years of experience, dealt with severe cases, and had strategies at his disposal that could lead to healing. My son experienced 2 surgeries to flatten out his tush so areas that were unable to get air to aid healing finally could. My son was a significant case, so Dr. Immerman surely had his work cut out for him. Dr. Immerman and his staff at both Evergreen Surgical and Oakleaf Surgical, bent over backward to meet out needs, provide us with information and care we needed, and to ease our worries and concerns the entire time. We were always treated with care, and given the hope that eventually we would get to a place where things would be ok. After years of dealing with this, there were times we felt uncertain healing would take place; but our confidence in Dr. Immerman never wavered. Our needs were always paramount; scheduling procedures and appointments on the convenience of our timing, not what was most convenient for the doctor or his staff. When we had questions, Angela and the staff always got back to us immediately, and helped me to calm down, and have a course of action when I was uncertain what to do. It is now November, 2015, and we are at a place where healing is almost complete. After almost 2 years, I finally have my son back; leaving the house, laughing and interacting, pain free, and loving life again! Had we not found Dr. Immerman, we wouldn’t be at this place right now! We will forever be grateful to Dr. Immerman and his staff at both Evergreen and Oakleaf Surgical in Eau Claire, WI. If anyone out there has a child that suffers from pilonidal disease, get to Dr. Immerman asap….it will be the best decision you ever make for your child!!!!!”
