“My story started on the 2nd day of vacation in Florida.
I noticed a painful bump on my upper rump / tail bone area. I tried to find some drawing salve to put on it, and that stuff is almost impossible to get anymore. The pharmacist said you will surly need antibiotics because it can get into your bood stream.
The next day, I started getting severe chills, and nausea, and sore body, so when to an urgent care. Was given AMOX TR, and later some pain medicine. Turns out AMOX was not the right antibiotic, as the cyst grew from 1.5″ to more than 2”. This doctor offered to lance it, but said it would come back, and we decided not to.
A couple days later I went to a different urgent care office and the doctor there said “I’m not going to touch that, that is too close to the Anus , and the last time I did one of those was a disaster’. You need to go to the Dade county ER just down the street.
Went but got talked out of going to that hospital, and was recommended on 30 minutes away. At that point decided to just travel back with it, and up the pain medicine.
The day I got back I was able to get an appointment to get in. They asked if I took any pain meds before I came and I told them took 1 Vicodin. They then proceeded to do the most painful thing in my life, no local anesthetic…she did a series of 4 painful things. After the first 2 I was shaking uncontrollabily, sweating all over, my nose was running, my eyes were balling, and my bottom half was soaked in blood. After the 3rd round I could hardly talk, and the 4rd round I couldn’t talk and thought I was going to pass out. It was barbaric and for the first time made me afraid of doctors. Because I could not handle any more pain, they stopped, but there was still a portion that was not drained. At least this Dr. put me on the correct antibiotic.
Two days later I went to the ER to have the rest lanced and drained. That went much better.
Things have finally stopped draining, but feels a little bumpy in that area yet. The Dr. said its scar tissue.
This ruined a vacation, and lost a week of work because of it. My big questions are 1) will this come back 2) what really caused it in the first place
Don’t want this to come back if I can help it.”
